PROFESSIONAL ACTING TRAINING

I am a Lecturer in Movement and Physical acting. I am a Senior Instructor at the Lucid Body Institute (trained under Fay Simpson, Lucid Body Founder, NYU Tisch Associate Arts Professor, Graduate Acting), where I teach classes for actors, and train new teachers in the Lucid Body Teacher Certification program. I currently serve on the faculty of the Brooklyn College MFA Drama Program, The New School College of Performing Arts, and have previously served at the Yale School of Drama, Marymount Manhattan College, Stella Adler Studio, and the Actor’s Center. I am also an acting and career coach, and I work privately with clients on auditions and roles in theatre, television and film.

A few years ago I collaborated with Ashley Kleinman Martinez, LCAT, RDT, on workshops using Lucid Body techniques for drama and expressive therapists. We have presented our work with the North American Drama Therapy Association, the Expressive Therapies Summit, and the NYU Drama Therapy program.

I have a Master of Arts degree from NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study. There I developed original techniques for post-performance acting training called Releasing the Character. I based in my research in neuroscience, mindset science, functional anatomy and somatics.

I also hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre from Missouri State University, and have trained with Theatrical Intimacy Education learning their practices regarding race, intimacy, and consent in acting training.

Katie is a wonderful teacher and human being. She takes you to the edge, and then raises the stakes in order to make you go deep in your body and soul and discover new things about yourself.
